My sisters and I had a photo taken when we were children at Olan Mills Studios.  (Maybe in 1965 or so.)  It was a lovely picture, but over the years it had gotten bent, cracked, torn etc.  There were yellowed marks and spots on it and of course there was only one copy.

I scanned the picture and using the paint program of my computer, "erased" the bad marks and duplicated the colors of the photo next to them, to fill in the bad spaces.  It took hours to do, but looks pretty good, and putting it on a CD for my sisters or taking the CD to Walmart and getting a nice 8X10 print for each, makes a nice present.

If Walmart won't print a photo for you (because it might look too portrait studio-ish, copyright problems), perhaps a friend has a good printer that can make the actual paper copy for you.  If all else fails, just email it or give it on a CD and let the recipient make their own copies.
