Although coloring books are the least expensive gift you can give a child, (usually about a dollar), making them yourself or together with the children makes it really special.

My daughter in law used a three ring binder and downloaded coloring images from the computer, punched holes in them and gave these "books" to her children for birthdays.

I plan to make some for the children from photographs, using photo shop or tracing to give them something really special and personalized.

Also, I'm working on more coloring books about Jesus and Bible stories that I'm going to give to the girls and possibly to area churches who would like to use them.

Encouraging children to draw is a safe and free way to build their self esteem and discover how they fit in the world.
